BROWNS SOLID OAK FLOORING

New Website LInk

Welcome to Browns oak flooring. We are a family run business with over 30 years of experience in supplying and manufacturing solid oak flooring. All of our oak flooring is kiln dried and PEFC certified, guaranteeing you that it has been sourced from sustainable forests and woodland.

Grades and sizes

oak flooring set in houseWe specialise in kiln dried solid 20mm thick traditional oak floor boards available in different widths and grades such as Prime, Character and Rustic Oak. They are supplied in random length boards and are machined to a tongue and groove, ends matched profile, making it quick and easy to lay on joists or battens.

Our Character Grade Oak flooring is the most popular range showing the natural knots that occur in the timber, varying from 2-3cm in diameter in size. It is a strong and attractively grained floor covering that once laid creates perfection in the home.

Prices start from £28 / m² + VAT for our 150mm Wide Character Grade Oak Flooring.

Installation:

Traditionally oak flooring is surface or secret nailed onto joists or battens. This is by far the most secure fixing method for your flooring.

If raising the height of the room is an issue, we can supply an adhesive that allows you to glue your floor directly onto concrete, saving the need for battens and losing valuable head height in a room.

osmo polyx oilOur flooring is supplied to you unfinished, as you will see oak is a light blond colour when untreated but soon mellows to a rich honey colour when an oil is applied. We recommend two coats of Osmo Polyx Oil 3032 for a natural but hardwearing finish. See our Osmo Wood Finishes page for more details on this product.

Before your flooring is fitted we recommend you leave it in the property for two weeks prior to laying. This is so it can acclimatise to the temperature of the room it will be fixed in, so if any movement is going to occur it does so before it is laid. Please ensure all wet work; i.e. plastering, is done before the flooring arrives at the property as it is possible the wood will absorb the extra moisture. It is essential that the concrete base is completely free of moisture and it is advised that sufficient checks are carried out before oak flooring is laid.
