At Browns we offer an extensive range of bespoke Internal Doors. Our handcrafted doors are available in a wide range of patterns, all of which are made to measure in our workshops.
Cottage Style Oak Plank Doors
Our most popular style is the character grade random plank oak door. We manufacture them in Character Grade Oak, offering a strong and attractively grained hardwood. Prices start from £135 + VAT.
The Oak Ledged Doors are available in standard sizes or made to measure. They have three Chamfered Oak Ledges, Tongue and Groove Boards with a Bead Mould. The Ledges are screwed and pelleted for maximum strength.
Our Oak Doors can also be offered in a fumed and oiled finish. Fuming is generally acknowledged as a superior alternative to staining achieving a look that would take years to achieve.
Rosehead nails can be fitted to the face of the boards for decoration. These are optional, at an extra charge. We offer all of the ironmongery fittings required, please ask us for a quotation or visit our ironmongery page.
Windows can be added to plank doors to increase light into a room or simply just to add character to your doors. Please be aware that the location of the window sits between the ledges.
Our cottage oak plank doors can be made to odd shapes and sizes too as many old properties have unusual openings. This can be done here in our workshop or from a drawing or template. Alternatively the top ledge can be sent loose for the door to be cut in on site by your carpenter.

Oak Door Kits
Our oak plank doors can be supplied in kit form for you or your carpenter to assemble on site. Each kit contains character grade oak in random width tongue and grooved boards. There is bead mould detailing to the front and back of the door boards and three chamfered ledges will also be supplied.
The ledges and the edges of the boards will be sent over size to be cut back by you. The construction of the doors consists of the ledges being screwed and pelleted to the door boards.
Cottage Style Softwood Doors
Browns offer very competitively priced softwood plank doors. Skilfully machined softwood tongue and grooved boards with a bead mould. Doors come in standard sizes or can be made to measure. They are of a screwed and pelleted construction and supplied to you in a sanded finish ready to be painted, stained or oiled.
We only use the finest quality redwood from PEFC sustainable resources. These doors are perfect for barn conversions and other developments achieving a fantastic look along with a competitive price.
Internal Glazed Doors
We offer a beautiful selection of Solid Oak and Softwood Internal Glazed Doors available in many different styles, Modern and traditional. As each door is bespoke and made to order we can work to your exact design. They can be made with flush bottom panels, raised and fielded panels or tongue and grooved boards to the bottom. Ovalo moulds and simple chamfers are just a few of the detailed moulds we offer on our doors.
Toughened glass can be supplied for your doors from 4mm to 24mm thick, to comply with building regulations or to improve existing glazing systems you have in your home.
Internal Solid Oak Panel Doors
Our stunning solid oak panel doors are bespoke to each client. We can manufacture them in 4, 6 or eight panels to suit your individual requirements. The versatile style of these panel doors sit beautifully in Georgian / Victorian period properties and contemporary homes. With a 40mm finished thickness of solid oak they are extremely soundproof and have the look and feel of a quality handmade door. Browns also offer these doors in softwood and other cheaper hardwoods.
